Mr. B and I have been married for three whole years, which is longer than the restaurant this picture was taken at has been around (due to Russian business practices), and is about as long as my mom’s (photobombing the pic) been smiling with relief that I married someone Jewish, even if he did take me to a pork-ladden Oktoberfest this past Shabbat.
»We haven’t done much with the house over the past month, but I’m looking to get back into it before the winter strikes.
»Happy Jew Year New Year!
»I am swamped this week. Swamped. I just took an exam last night and my brain waved the white flag. As a result, I’m not thinking about anything except this awesome movie Mr. B and I saw on Saturday, and you should too, if it’s playing near you.
»My mom sent me an email on Wednesday with, “Twenty years ago, we landed in New York. You were five!” and nothing else. It made me very emotional at work. I pretended that my database was making me cry.
»I am so excited about this NY Times article about American kids learning Russian and going to a Russian school in Moscow. Because it’s about time those hipsters get a taste of their own medicine. And by hipsters I mean American parents and teachers that teach their kids that each one is a special snowflake. More Americans need to learn how the rest of the world works.
»I was supposed to be studying, but somehow watching YouTube is twice more enjoyable when you’re supposed to be doing something else. Also when you understand nothing from your class notes. You may recall from my previous YouTube adventures that I can waste quite a lot of time. (And of course, now that I included that link, I had to go back and watch all of those videos)
»A couple weeks ago, Mr. B and I watched some movies that my aunt brought when she came to visit from Russia in August. One of them was a movie that’s Russia’s favorite current bromance comedy and has stirred up a lot of press, even in English, “What Men Talk About.”
»This is where I’ve been sitting a lot this weekend:
»I cannot believe this Sunday was 10 years ago.
»Something I think about a lot is what it takes to be a good manager, what kinds of things you should provide a manager so they can excel, and what it would take to be a good U.S. president. I’m pretty good at managing and organizing groups of people, as Mr. B would grudgingly tell you, so the art of management and leadership is interesting to me on a non-buzzword bingo level.
»As you can probably tell, I’ve been a bit busy lately.
