»Somehow, I talked Mr. B into running Somehow, I talked Mr. B into running with me on July 4. Also, Mr. B’s mom. My parents declined to participate, despite the fact that they also run and bike actively, probably because they are intimidated by Mr. B’s mom:
»I need to schedule a physical because I’m pretty sure I have restless overreactive brain syndrome which will result in my untimely death and Mr. B becoming a young widower who finally gets some peace and quiet and doesn’t have to answer my annoying questions. This is in spite of the fact that I am now virtually bulletproof. But, I’ve been having some trouble scheduling my physical.
»Being touristy with Mr. B from a couple weeks ago. This weekend? Hoping to bike around D.C.
»Have you ever wanted to learn Russian, but not even real Russian but pidgin English-Russian contorted by decades of living in immigratsiya? It’s your lucky day. Today, I’m blogging at Yelena’s blog, The Transparent Language Blog, about The Habits of the Russian Immigrant in America during the Summer. Also, I continuously blog for Jewlicious, so you can check me out over there.
»I spotted I spotted in the New York Times which is timely, because I’ve been playing quite the game of chess myself lately. (Note that Kosteniuk, who seems awesome, no longer lives in our Great Motherland but conveniently resides in Florida, where she doesn’t have to worry about most of her winnings going to fund Russia pressuring Belarus out of cakes and pies not to mention any and all natural resources.)
»Happy Friday!
»I was startled this morning by the following in my Facebook feed from friend Monica.
»The restrained warmth of May has passed and we are in the wild, reckless blackberry nights when the moon is huge and lazy and the clouds fly slowly like wisps of ghosts over the Southern humidity. There are cherries and strawberries and watermelons and, most importantly, cups and cups of blackberries and I eat all of them in one sitting and they feel like little juicy grenades as black as the shimmering heat.
»Mr. B and I were watching Afghan Star last night, which is about as sad and as inspiring as it sounds. You should check it out.
»Thanks to everyone for your running encouragement. I didn’t expect any, especially since I’m too lazy to encourage myself. Yesterday, Mr. B and I went to see Christopher Hitchens, and I ran/limped 3.6 miles to the event from work (my motivation being fatty food) and I’m still recovering. Happy weekend.
»As you can probably tell from my new masthead, I’ll be “running” a 5k tomorrow. Remains to be seen if I’ll be back to blog on Monday.
