This Tu B’Shvat, I’m buying a donkey and a plane ticket to Haifa

Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish festival for the birthday of the trees, is tonight.   Since it’s been a while that I’ve been part of something Jewish ([Tu B’Shvat,](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tu_Bishvat) the Jewish festival for the birthday of the trees, is tonight.   Since it’s been a while that I’ve been part of something Jewish ( does not count as doing something Jewish, although sometimes I try to pass it off as such,)  I wanted to celebrate, which involves planting trees and eating fruits of the Torah (pomegranates, dates, olives, and Bamba.)

No Photoshop Thursday today, for a good reason :)

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been doing a lot of tweaking of Le Blog lately. Actually, I always do a lot of tweaking on this blog, the same way I keep coming back to that last slice of ice cream cake, picking at it, taking off the little chocolate chips, then eating a corner, then oh, what the hell I’ll eat the whole thing.

Photoshop Thursday: Thursday!

I haven’t had one of these in a while, and I’ve been inspired by playing around with all kinds of typography. In other news, check out my first actual Photoshop design for someone else, Sophie!  She is selling kick-ass purses.  :)

The Picture Books of My Youth

From time to time, my mom reminds me that she still has all of my children’s books from Russia, just in case I decide to gift her with grandchildren soon.  She is on standby.  Mr. B’s, mom, of course, says that she will immediately confiscate any female children and leave the leftovers to my mom.  This plan of theirs is all well and good, of course, but is unfortunately entirely dependent on the aforementioned children coming into being.

President of Russia Wishes Me Merry Christmas

Orthodox Russian Christmas is today because of the Gregorian calendar.  Or the Julian calendar.  I can’t remember.  Whichever one makes us Russians celebrate Stariy Noviy God (Old New Year) on January 13th with foolish glee.  So imagine how excited I was to receive this personal greeting from Dmitriy Medvedev.
