»I don’t think there’s anything more awesome about DC than being able to go to Le French Embassy for a Jewish Film Festival (you can read about the last movie I saw here, and please note that I was compensated with free tickets for the festival, but as always, I don’t endorse anything that’s lame). I did just that last week. Can you tell I was excited by my tweets?
»Finally Friday and finally Hannukah!
»_Vicki’s note: I decided to take down the previous post I had because, upon reflection, it wasn’t consistent with my website content and additionally, I can see it leading to long discussions of the type that I don’t necessarily want to have on this blog.</p>
»Yesterday, Mr. B and I went to the DCJCC 10th Annual Film Festival (which, by the way, you should go to if you get the chance..going on through Sunday!) to see Yesterday, Mr. B and I went to the [DCJCC 10th Annual Film Festival](http://blog.vickiboykis.com/wlb/2009/12/03/washington-dc-jewish-film-festival/) (which, by the way, you should go to if you get the chance..going on through Sunday!) to see (Kintted, in English.) Off the bat, I have to say I am extremely impressed with the JCC, which is much bigger and more comprehensive than any JCC I’ve been to. Any would include the one in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and my Hillel office at Penn State, which isn’t counting for much. I grew up in the Pale of Settlement, let’s just say. The amount of Jews lined up to see this show was simply astounding, as was the fact that the DCJCC has its own movie theater. I never wanted to leave. The theater was packed for the showing and the crowd was very enthusiastic throughout, making me think that more shows should be screened in movie theaters.
»From third grade up until I graduated, I played the clarinet (which I named, appropriately, Zephyr). We got to choose instruments in third grade, and, despite my dad’s best interest in almost forcing me to play the saxophone, I chose the clarinet. I was never great at playing the clarinet, but I did manage get enjoyment out of playing pieces correctly for audiences and in constantly trying to get better.
»I have to apologize. I’ve left you without links for far, far too long. Here are the ones for this week!
»I’ve been doing a little bit of learning of Photoshop lately because I find that it relaxes me after work and it’s always a valuable skill to learn. So, today, I decided to make a conceptual cover for The Master and Margarita, one of my favorite books as practice. What say you? Are there any books that you particularly enjoy that you’d love to see a different cover for? Here’s some really cool book covers I’ve been looking at.
»I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Disney has a new animated cartoon coming out in theaters on December 11. It’s called The Princess and the Frog, and I am super-excited about it, as is anyone who has been baptized in the cult of Disney since their early years. Evidence? See here. And here. And here. And here.
»being done with my novel!
